the best pet hair vacuum?

I have an american bulldog and he sheds like crazy. I am going to get a new vacuum. Can anyone tell me what the best vacuum to pick up pet hair is? Thanks

Dyson Animal. Not the cheapest by a long way but they last forever, carry a 5 yr warranty and would suck the hairs off an elephants backside from half a mile away. Never looses suction and no bags.

I had one for about 15 years and decided to treat myself so bought the Dyson Animal DC25 the new ball version. My only criticism would be that the collection container is not as big on the new as on the old (Disappointingly the new ones do not pick up chunks of wood and bones the dogs sneak indoors!) It certainly picks up all the hairs.

We have a Kirby (and four cats and a low-shed dog). It does an amazing job. We joke that it sucks dirt of the ceiling of the restaurant below us. Kirbys are NOT cheap, we paid about $1,000 for ours in 1996, but we haven’t had to buy anything for it in that amount of time except for a belt.

Just for comparison, my friend has gone through four $70 vacuum cleaners in the past 9 months.
